Summary

European Journal of Neuroscience (EJN) is the official Journal of FENS. As a Society-owned journal, the main mission of EJN is to support FENS activities through the publication of high-quality research that cuts across a broad range of basic and clinical neuroscience disciplines. In this workshop, EJN editors will provide tips to prepare rigorous and impactful research reports and reviews for publication in EJN. Given that the preparation of any scientifically rigorous manuscripts relies on a solid experimental design and appropriate statistical analyses, the editors will highlight the importance of using adequate analyses and graphical representations of data in a manuscript as well as the value of Registered Reports. They will also talk about efforts made by EJN to assure open science, data sharing and reproducibility. Editors will also discuss the review process manuscripts must go through before it is considered for publication. Tips will be provided on key ethical issues clinical and basic science research articles must satisfy before being considered for publication. They will also briefly discuss how to become an effective reviewer for manuscripts submitted for publication to EJN and why being a conscientious reviewer is the key to assure ethically rigorous peer-review of the published literature. Finally, efforts made by the EJN team to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion in the review process of submitted manuscripts will be discussed.
